Alyx is engaged in a range of works and collaborations.
The Red House opens in selected New Zealand cinemas from 14 March. Check the official website for details of screenings.
An exhibition spanning the last ten years of Alyx's work runs till December the 4th at Radio Active's Wellington studios on Ghuznee St and on their website. Curated by Dan Untitled for MoMA, it has two strands - Choreography with a Camera, and Fact Fiction, and Facard.
The Red House has been nominated for Best Self-Funded Film and APRA Best Score in the NZ Film Awards.
Earlier in the year Alyx choreographed scenes for Japanese and US Co-production The Emperor, Directed by Peter Weber (Girl with a Pearl Earring). See the trailer here. She also choreographed NZ's latest State insurance TVC directed by Nathan Price.
She taught the MDDN 211 digital video course at the School of Design, Victoria University of Wellington.
AUGUST Alyx was in Guiyang China directing a documentary for AYACC animation festival and competition.
JUNE She choreographed two Virgin Air commercials directed by Luke Savage, production company Flying Fish.
APRIL - JUNE Alyx choreographed and co-directing John Downie's epic new theatre work The Silver Ship with 3rd year students at Victoria University in Wellington as part of their Conventions of Drama & Theatre THEA302. The show premiered between the 31 May - 2 June.
JANUARY she choreographed a Yellow Pages TVC in Sydney directed by Wade Shotter, production company Flying Fish.
NOVEMBER Short film Appetite screened at the Brussels Independant Film Festival.
AUGUST Alyx was in Brasilia and Sao Paulo developing the Brazil|NZ collaboration.
MARCH - APRIL - MAY At the end of March Alyx spent three days as a guest artist with MFA students at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
FEBRUARY Alyx seeded a new project, a collaboration between three Brasilian and three NZ artists: theatre director and producer Ligia Verdi, dancer and body therapist Beto Teixeira, theater and installation artist John Downie and performance designer Rowan Pierce. In August they will continue this development with a workshop in Brasilia, Brazil. This process is supported with a creative and professional development grant from Creative New Zealand.
JANUARY Returning to NZ mid January after nine weeks in Brussels, Belgium Alyx choreographed an Icebreaker TVC, directed by Mr Hide and produced by Claire Kelly for The Sweet Shop.
